My Bio
My name is Jeroen van Doornik. Drawing (with pencil, or pen, or whatever you can draw with) is the thing I do mostly, because I find it not too difficult to put my thoughts onto paper exactly the way it is in my head. Using paint is something I would like to do more, but I have to experiment with it. Some paintings start with a drawing and never make it to the actual painting, because I am afraid to ruin my creation.

Hopefully there will be some paintings in my gallery in the near future.

Tablet time

0 min read
A tablet might save you some time, because you can skip certain steps in digitalizing your creations. The thing is, that being creative with a drawing tablet is so much fun that you'll end up spending more time drawing and trying things out. Let's say it doens't save time, but it's more efficient. ;)

Today I painted another eye, but from a different angle than 'Bright Blue Eye'. The painting I did today was in my head for quite some time. Putting the though into action (starting to paint) takes some time. Eventually I got an extra inspiration boost, which resulted in my latest addition: 'Brown Fear Eye'. It gives me a 'Marvel Comics' feeling in some way. Oh, the last painting is NOT the Hulk and is NOT inspired on the Hulk. One tiny little bit of inspiration came after I saw 'Avatar', but then I drew the 'Bright Blue Eye' painting. So forget about what it came from. The eyes just popped into my head. *shivers* (creepy)

The idea of painting an eye - close-up - popped into my head just before I fell asleep. I wrote the idea down, so I wouldn't forget the next morning. I wanted to paint an eye using abstract colouring. The overview of the whole painting needs to be quite realistic (apart from the colours), but I wanted rough strokes. I find it difficult to get the creation in my mind onto canvas the way I remember it, but I sort of managed to get it right yesterday. The result is in my featured work (Bright Blue Eye).
